SYRACUSE, NY – The CNY Chinese Cultural Center warmly welcomes the general public to the First Annual Moon Festival Gala. Sponsored by local Chinese businessmen, educators, and scientists, the Moon Festival Gala will be the first of its kind at Rock Center.
The Moon Festival, or Mid-Autumn Festival, is a time for gathering and thanksgiving as family and friends reunite in celebration of the harvest. Going back to the Zhou Dynasty (1046-256 BCE), this festival has served as an opportunity for Chinese, Taiwanese, and Vietnamese people to bestow admiration upon loved ones and honor the bright full moon.
The Moon Festival Gala aims to commemorate this cultural cornerstone by opening the doors of the newly renovated Rock Center to the entire Central New York Chinese community. Students, artists, and neighbors will honor the Moon Festival with outstanding performances. Singing, dancing, and magic are but a few of the wonders you’ll be able to experience. In addition to these captivating acts, children’s programs will be available, so future generations can gain a deeper appreciation for this time honored tradition. And of course, no Moon Festival would be complete without the consumption of moon cakes; so make sure you come hungry!

坐落于美國紐約州中部雪城的雪城中華文化中心，在金秋的九月熱烈歡迎社會各界人士光臨該中心的首屆中秋佳節聯歡活動。這次聯歡活動是完全由雪城民間發起，依靠社區人員志願組織的一起大型文藝活動。
中秋一詞，最早见于《周禮》，《禮記·月令》上说：“仲秋之月養衰老，行糜粥飲食。”。民間也有提及中秋節是農作物收穫慶祝秋季豐收的時節。直至明清时期，中秋节已经成为中国的一大传统节日。《正德江宁县志》载，中秋夜，南京人必赏月，合家赏月称為“庆团圆”，团坐聚饮稱為“圆月”，出游待市称為“走月”。中秋佳節沿襲至今，已經成為除農曆新年外的第一大節日。
藉著天時地利人和，以及中秋佳節華人團圓的美好寓意， 雪城華人社區決定用隆重的聯歡活動來慶祝裝修一新的Rock Center（雪城中華文化中心的所在地）。在雪城居住和學習的華人極盡技能，為大家準備了一場舉城共慶的視聽盛宴。中華文化作為遠近聞名，眾所周知的飲食文化自然不能辜負這千年的享譽。在聯歡活動的現場，中秋必吃的月餅也一定會出席。
