Rock Center’s Second Annual Moon Festival Gala will be held on October 7th at 6:00pm. Sponsored by CNYCCC and local Chinese businessmen, educators, and scientists, this celebration of Chinese culture through performances and food is open to all in Central New York.
The Moon Festival, or Mid-Autumn Festival, is a time for gathering and thanksgiving as family and friends reunite in celebration of the harvest. This festival has 3000 year old roots, as it began during the Zhou Dynasty (1046-256 BCE) as a way for the Chinese people to bestow admiration upon loved ones and honor the bright full moon.
Featuring performances from local Chinese artists, musicians, and dancers, the Moon Festival Gala commemorates the traditional holiday with an emphasis on community and family. This festival is a wonderful opportunity to experience Chinese culture firsthand, while also coming together to celebrate loved ones. And no festival would be complete without food. A reception will follow the performances featuring traditional Mid-Autumn Festival refreshments.
Come celebrate the Moon Festival Gala on Saturday, October 7th from 6:00pm to 9:00pm at the Rock Center at 999 Cumberland Avenue.
Admission:
Adults – $10
Children (Ages 5-12) – $5
Children (Under 5) – Free!
