Open House Performance – Traditional Music

Mr. Tsao will be one of the performers at Saturday’s Open House. Come see this outstanding professional before he heads back to NYC!

Mr. Paul Tsao founded the CBA Culture Arts Center in 1999, in order to promote Chinese culture and facilitate Chinese-American cultural exchange. He is one of the most outstanding Chinese traditional musicians. Born to a long lineage of performers, he began learning music from his father when he was a child. He attended the Tianjin Conservatory of Music at the age of 13 and studied under prominent Er-hu masters Zhao Yan-Chen and Ji Gui-Zhen, as well as Wu Bing-Zhang and Liu Ming-Yuan.

Known as a “Master of Chinese Strings,” Mr. Tsao is skilled in more than 15 traditional Chinese instruments. His unique playing style is reflected in its elegancy, subtlety, and passion. Ellen Stewart, founder of La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club, called him the most remarkable “king of instruments and wizard of music.” Since moving to the United States in 1994, Mr. Tsao has performed in Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Broadway, National Theatre, and Kennedy Hall. He has also toured and lectured across the U.S., cheered by audiences and highly regarded by arts communities wherever he performs.

See him in person at the Rock Center Open House on Saturday, July 22nd at 3:30pm!
